Top 5 Things to do in Charleston, SC

Top 5 of Charleston

I visited Charleston, South Carolina for a long weekend trip and instantly fell in love with the city. The people were incredibly friendly, the streets were clean and I overall felt very safe and welcomed here. Charleston offers a diverse range of activities with something special for everyone. This list highlights the 5 best ways to spend your trip.

  1. Charleston Boat Tour

The fastest way to see the most! Take a boat tour of Charleston Harbor leaving from various ports in the city. We took the tour with Charleston Harbor Tours and had a fun experience. The boat visits famous landmarks such as the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, Fort Sumter, and Mt Pleasant. I recommend the evening tour to see a gorgeous sunset with dolphins jumping the boat’s wake.

  1. Drive to Kiawah Island

This serene drive winds through tunnels of tall trees covered by spanish moss. Arrive at Kiawah Island home to 10 miles of white sand beach. Find a place to park and explore! After walking the beach enjoy lunch at Jasmine Porch at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

  1. Explore the City

This historic town is full of southern charm. Walk the oceanside and find the famous pineapple statue for the perfect photo opportunity. Head downtown for some great eats and shopping! Our favorite restaurant was Church and Union, a unique restaurant renovated from an old church. The ravioli was one of the best meals I have ever eaten.

  1. Visit Folly Beach

Another gorgeous beach in South Carolina! We visited in November, so the temperature was cooler, but people were still surfing! It looked cold and fun. Finish the day with a walk down the graffiti path to see Morris Island Lighthouse.

  1. Carriage Tours

Carriage tours are very popular in Charleston and visitors stumble upon them, creating no need to book in advance. The tours are great because they provide a slow ride and knowledge of history. The guides inform visitors about all kinds of Charleston facts from colonization to modern days. It is incredible to see the history of the city and understand why the buildings and monuments are here.
