I spent two weeks on Maui, and did everything possible. This island has something for everyone. Use this list to plan your trip, including some of the best food, hikes, snorkel spots and more.
Hikes:
Waihee Ridge Trail
This is a steep 4.2 mile hike, featuring waterfalls, mountains and ocean views. This hike can be very difficult, especially in muddy conditions, but the view is worth it! Be prepared with snacks, water and a camera.

13 Crossings
Simple hike with a wide range of sights. Do not hike in rainy conditions, this area can easily flood. This hike starts through a bamboo forest and leads through 13 small river crossings. When I went there was very little water and I was able to walk across the rocks without getting my shoes wet. At the end there are two waterfalls to view, with many people bringing swimsuits to dip in and cool off in the pools below.

Kapalua Beach Path
Easy scenic walk along the shore. Great place to walk and stop at the various beaches along the way.

Snorkel Spots:
Hyatt Kaanapali Beach
Rent snorkel gear or bring your own, then jump in! Swim out past the break for clear snorkeling. Here you can find fish, sea turtles, and sometimes even reef sharks!

Black Rock
Another fun spot in Kaanapali, swim out around the cliff jumping spot and see the fish who call it home. This spot can be crowded but still a good place to stop.
Kapalua Bay
A perfect snorkel spot for flat days. Lots of turtles and beautiful reef.

Maui Reef Adventures-Molokini Crater and Turtle Town Tour
My favorite adventure from our trip. This tour was amazing! Book with Maui Reef Adventures for an incredible experience. The Reef Explorer boat takes you out to the snorkel spots at high speed, allowing for lots of time in the water. In the winter months stop for whale watching on the way. The Molokini Crater is an incredibly unique destination and is truly beautiful. The snorkeling was amazing at the crater with fish everywhere.

Wailea Bay
Easy snorkeling right off the beach. Follow the reef to the right to see colorful fish and turtles.

Activities:
Surfing at Ukumehame Beach- Soul Surfing Maui
Picturesque beginner surf spot! Sign up for lessons with Soul Surfing Maui for an unmatched experience. Learn to surf in clear blue water while enjoying a view of the mountains from the water.

Haleakala Sunrise
Make a reservation for a parking spot in advance, and commit to waking up early for this experience. Drive up Haleakala in the dark, and find a spot to sit at the summit. Watch the sunrise over the ocean for a great start to the day. Make sure to pack warm clothes, it gets really cold at the elevation.

Sunset Sail Sea Maui Sunset Sail
Spot whales and a gorgeous sunset with views of Lanai.

Food:
Haiku- Jaws Country Store
Perfect food stop for the road to Hana. Great wood fire pizzas, smoothies, and a wide variety of other convenience items. Picnic tables to eat and enjoy the weather.
Kapalua-Sea House Restaurant
High quality food with a beautiful beach view! Coconut shrimp is amazing. Reasonable prices for Hawaii!

Kaanapali-Leilani’s On the Beach
Convenient location at Whalers village within walking distance to many major hotels. Calm atmosphere and great food.
Paia-Paia Fish Market
Located in the heart of Paia, one of Maui’s cutest towns. This restaurant has amazing food for affordable prices.
This is a hidden gem! Stop here on the way to or from the Haleakala volcano for delicious food. Afterwards tour the well kept gardens surrounding the lodge.
