Oahu is a beautiful island, which offers a great mix of activities with something for everyone. I made this list based off of my personal favorites along with those of my family.
Lanikai Pillbox Hike
This hike is difficult, as it has steep slopes where it is necessary to crawl or use the set ropes to help pull up steep cliffs. Yet, the view is gorgeous at the top and worth every step. I did this as a sunrise hike which made it very special and extra gorgeous, but also more difficult to hike up in the dark.

Waikiki Beach
The iconic Honolulu sight is very touristy, but I still think it is worth a visit. Stay at a hotel on the beach where you can spot turtles swimming in the water below from the balcony. Honolulu offers so much to do and is just a short drive from nearby hikes, and is a must do for first time visitors. My favorite activity was learning to surf the blue, calm waves with monk seals riding in the waves beneath me. The waves here can get crowded so if you give surfing a try go early in the morning when it is less busy.

Hike Diamond Head
Diamond head is a fairly easy hike right by Waikiki beach. From the top of the mountain view the beautiful city of Honolulu which contrasts with the ocean and nature below.

North Shore
Rent a car and spend the day driving along the North Shore. Stop and see the surf spots and the many amazing beaches, as well as enjoy some local food.

Makiki Trail
Escape to the woods and hike Makiki Trail, a moderate 3 mile hike. Enjoy the shaded forest and beautiful views.

Manoa Falls Trail
Another great moderate hike, leading to a waterfall at the end.

Sunset Sail
Beautiful from any location on the island, but the tours leaving from Waikiki beach offer unique views of both the city and the mountains, as well as the beautiful sunset over the water.

Kailua Beach
Gorgeous white sand beach that looks out at the twin islands.

Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail
Easy hike on a paved trail to a great lookout point over the mountains.

Ko Olina Area
Great beaches for swimming with little to no waves as well as many great restaurants and resorts.
