Shopping
If you enjoy outdoor adventure clothing, Zermatt is the perfect place to discover it. Stroll along picturesque streets adorned with flags and flowers, pausing to shop and enjoy treats. The town’s mountainous setting means many shops focus on apparel and equipment for hiking, biking, and skiing. There are also stores offering classic Swiss souvenirs, such as watches and knives. Exploring Zermatt is a delight, and on sunny days, you may even catch a view of the Matterhorn.

Goat Parade
One of the most iconic aspects of Zermatt is the daily goat parade that takes place during the summer months. Twice a day, the goats walk through Main Street to go from a farm to the pasture to graze. Watch the adorable black and white striped goats make the trek throughout town. They all wear bells around their necks, making it easy to pause and head to the street when you hear the goats coming.

See the Matterhorn
The Matterhorn is the highlight of this area of the Swiss Alps, and it does not disappoint. Take the Gornergrat train to the peak, providing fantastic views of the surrounding scenery as you ascend. At the top, view glaciers and the surrounding mountains. If you like to hike, I recommend hiking down to the train stop, or two stops down. Plan in advance and consider what times the train will be there. It is about a thrifty minute hike to the first stop from the top, but it is at a very high elevation (beginning at about 10,000 feet) and steep, so it can feel challenging for some hikers. The trail itself is mostly rocky and manageable for fit travelers.

Forest Fun Park
If you like Ziplining, obstacle courses, and heights, this is for you. Kids especially will love this excursion. Learn how to operate your own harness and move through the park’s multiple courses on your own. Each course has a different difficulty and ratio of zip lines to obstacles. View the river and the Matterhorn from new heights as you fly over the forest. I enjoyed the blue and brown courses the most as they focused on zipping and fewer obstacles.
